USA will donate ventilators to india.

US President Donald Trump announced on May 15, 2020 through a tweet that the US will donate ventilators to India.

Analysis- India had imposed a ban on the import of the hydroxychloroquine in March 2020, to ensure that it has adequate quantities of the drug to support its battle against COVID-19 pandemic. However, at Trump’s request, India lifted the ban on the export of the drug. India allowed export of almost 50 million Hydroxychloroquine tablets to the United States, which is the worst-hit nation by the COVID-19 outbreak. 

16.05.2020 Celebrated as National Dengue Day.

National Dengue Day is observed in India on May 16 with the recommendation of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India to create awareness about dengue; and to intensify preventive measures and preparedness for the control of disease in the country before transmission season starts. 

Dengue is prevalent throughout the country. In 2017 maximum numbers of dengue cases were reported from Tamilnadu followed by Kerala, Karnataka, Punjab, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Delhi and other states .

Rajnath Singh commissions Indian Coast Guard Ship ‘Sachet’.

The Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on May 15 commissioned Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) sachet. And two interceptor boats C-451 and (IBs) C-450 in Goa. The event took place via video conferencing from Delhi Office.

India will receive For Rafale till the end of July.

The first four Rafale fighter jets will be flown in from France by the end of July 2020. The aircraft were earlier supposed to be delivered by May end but the delivery was postponed by two months in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.

W.H.O. Chief, Roberto Azevedo has decided to step down early.

Roberto Azevedo, the Chief of the World Trade Organization (WTO) has decided to step down, a year before his term expires. The former Brazilian diplomat said that he will step down on August 31, 2020. Azevedo said he had taken a “personal decision” after talking with his family and that his move was not due to health reasons or specific political ambitions.

The International Day of Light is celebrated on 16 May each year, the anniversary of the first successful operation of the laser in 1960 by physicist and engineer, Theodore Maiman. This day is a call to strengthen scientific cooperation and harness its potential to foster peace and sustainable development.Light plays a central role in our lives. On the most fundamental level, through photosynthesis, light is at the origin of life itself.
